Lasix - Noey1958 - 07-04-2009

I have had swelling in my legs for years and I got a new Doctor who prescribed Lasix. I finally do not have paddles for feet! At first I lost 40 Pounds but 13 have creeped back on. It does not work as well as it did in the beginnig but it is a lot better than before I started taking it. I have a genetic blood disorder and the fluid does not return from my legs very well. Lasix has helped a lot and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Yaz - Cathy - 07-04-2009

I began using yaz due to my awful cramps when menstruating. Eventually my doctor told me about the medication to relieve the pain during my period. The pain has decreased dramatically. When i am consistent with taking the pill daily I barely have any cramps now.
There have been no side effects as i can tell and i would recommend yaz to anyone that suffers from awful menstrual cramps.

Motrin - Soccer Mom - 07-04-2009

A household staple for this family of five, ibuprofen is the one medication that we purchase in Sam's Club size. Useful or headaches, fever or muscle pain, it has been extremely helpful for menstrual cramps. If taken at first sign of pain, it can ease this trouble easily and at low dosage. As with all our medications, we are careful to watch the dosage as it may vary from brand to brand. We have never had any adverse reactions or side effects.

Motrin - Landon - 07-04-2009

I had an awful headache one day after school and looked around in the medicine cabinet to see what I could find. I found a Motrin 600mg, so I decided to take it. About 30 minutes to an hour after taking it with a glass of milk I noticed my headache was gone. I had a little stomach ache, but nothing very bad. Overall, this worked very well.

Amoxil - noah - 07-04-2009

The treatment benefit was that my fever went down. My tonsillitis was also cured. After seven days or even less I was already feeling better. One benefit is that the cure can be taken orally with no downtime. It did not cause any side effects but sped up my recovery.
Side effects:I did not experience any adverse effects when I took this drug. The only effect that I experienced was that it made my fever go down and cured my tonsillitis. However, I know of people who do not react well with Amoxicillin and are allergic to it. I do not know what sort of adverse effects they might have experienced.

Effexor - Marty - 07-04-2009

This medication was the worst thing I've ever put into my body. It was pushed on me by a psychiatrist after a single, half-hour visit to talk about some minor depression I was experiencing. I have never taken an antidepressant before, nor since.

I experienced every side effect on the list. I experienced "brain zaps" for weeks after I was finished tapering off, and experienced a strange effect I called "8-o-clocks" (they happened at roughly that time in the evening) for months after; dizzyness, disorientation, confusion. Not good when using sharp knives or cooking with hot oil.

Tapering off of Effexor was like having the flu.

In a way, it was "life changing," as I realized my problems were not solved by a pill but by making some external changes in my life. My psychiatrist was of no help.

Vicodin - Malaka Jones - 07-04-2009

I recently had my wisdom teeth removed and was prescribed Vicodin because of the pain that was sure to come. After 24 hours, the pain of the operation started to set in. I took the prescribed dosage of Vicodin and i felt so much better. There were no noticeable side effects after taking the medicine except some drowsiness. I highly recommend taking Vicodin if you are in a lot of pain because it really helped me out.

Zyrtec - CO - 07-04-2009

I took the version you can get over the counter, not the one you have to go to the pharmacy for (without a prescription). It was all antihistimine. It works and I don't think it made me sleepy; I took the 24 hour dose at night so I slept off the first effects of it. The problem is that antihistimines are also associated with weight gain, so I decided to stop taking it. My allergies are mild enough that this was a reasonable choice to make.

NuvaRing - HG - 07-04-2009

Switching from the pill to NuvaRing was the best decision I've ever made. I used to have to set an alarm on my cell phone to remind myself to take a pill every day. Now, all I do is take out the old ring and put a new one in every 3-4 weeks. (I use it to skip my period every other month--the ring makes that very, very easy to do.)

In the three years I've been using NuvaRing, I've never experienced any side effects. I had very little PMS to begin with, but since I started using the ring, I've been completely free of cramps, headaches, and dizziness. I don't even notice that it's in most of the time.

Pseudovent - Sean - 07-04-2009

Pseudovent was a great help when I was struggling with sinusitis. At least once a year, I go on pseudovent to open up my nasal passages so I can breathe. Also, when I'm on pseudovent, the sinusitis doesn't progress nearly as much.

For me, pseudovent was great and I experienced no side effects. For someone of lower weight in my family, pseudovent caused rapid heartbeat. For me, though, it was definitely worth it.

I've been taking Ambien off and on for approximately 5yrs or
more. I haven't had any problems at all, sometimes I have
insomnia and I'll take one, but usually I'll try to go to sleep on my on first. I don't feel groggy or drunk in the morning. I have tried the Ambien CR, didn't work as well as the plain Ambien

Zoloft - FikeMike - 07-04-2009

I am currently taking this medication. been on it for several years. it seems to have the least amount of side effects compared with medications i've taken in the past, but i wonder if it causes or contributes to weight gain? i still have symptoms at times, but over all the medication works OK. could be better, but this may be the best thing for me medication wise

Proventil HFA - Phil - 07-04-2009

I was prescribed this medication to treat asthma episodes on an as needed basis. So far I have only had to use it a couple of times, but for those incidences it has worked fantastically well. When I feel very short of breath and that I really need the inhaler I take 2 puffs and my lungs instantly open up letting air flow through. It feels pretty great when you are struggling for breath and your lungs suddenly open up and you can breathe comfortably again.

As far as side effects go I haven't experienced anything.

Avelox - Phil - 07-04-2009

I was prescribed Avelox for a lower respiratory chest congestion problem. My doctor thought it might be an opportunistic infection taking advantage of my recent asthma bout. I took the full prescription as directed, which is strongly recommended when taking an antibiotic regiment.

As far as my experience goes with this medication, it initially seemed to be working as my congestion lessened however about 2 weeks after finishing my last dose the congestion returned with a vengence and I awoke early one morning about 4 hours earlier then I normally do struggling for breath. It appears that this antibiotic was not strong enough to completely eliminate the infection.

I didn't notice any strong side effects from taking this medication. I did suffer some minor stomach indigestion while on it.

Symbicort 160/4.5 - Phil - 07-04-2009

For the past 2 months I have been suffering from shortness of breath. My doctor told me that I am probably suffering from an allergic asthma response induced from tree pollen. He prescribed this medication to help me relieve my symptoms and get my air back.

So far it is working fairly well. I continue to have episodes of breathlessness but it seems to be much more controlled and stable and I am able to get through my day with out the constant fear of suffocation. It hasn't been nearly as effective as I had hoped but it is working so I am satisfied so far.

I have noticed no side effects from taking this medication. I have been staying up later then I normally do which could be related.

Clarinex - Phil - 07-04-2009

A couple of months ago I went to my doctor because I was having extreme shortness of breath. My doctor told me that I may be suffering an allergic asthma reaction from tree pollen and he prescribed this medication to prevent future attacks.

So far it is working well. I have no other history of allergies but I have not have a subsequent attack since taking this medication. I have had minor episodes but nothing as severe as when I first spoke to my doctor.

I haven't noticed any significant side effects from this medication. Initially I did notice some minor giddiness after taking the prescribed dose. I haven't noticed it recently. I have also been slightly fatigued, but I'm not sure if that's related.

Valium - Cat Lady - 07-03-2009

I don't know if there are other devoted pet owners out there, but valium has worked wonders for at least 2 of my cats. One cat was a stray who was (and still is) nearly feral; she was so anxious that she was afraid to eat, afraid to use the litter box, and afraid to be picked up. She spent the entire first year of her life living under a chair, until I tried Valium. She is now a happy housecat, still very high strung but 11 years old and well loved.

Another cat (3 years old) has difficulties with skeletal-muscle rigidity, to the extent that he often can't urinate regularly. A relatively small daily dose of Valium has solved a problem with which we have struggled for his entire life.

Neither animal has experienced any problematic side effects, even after long-term use. However, I understand that some cats (1 in 10,000, I believe) can have an immediate, but very rare, liver reaction which is fatal.

The only other down-side is filling the prescription, since it is a controlled substance. It can't be refilled even one day early, and refills are limited, so the veterinarian has had to keep writing the same prescription every 6 months for the past decade. Oh well.

Paxil - oboler - 07-03-2009

I have suffered from depression since my late teens and as I got older it just got worse: the lethargy, the loss of interest in things I once enjoyed, and even feelings of anxiety and nervousness. My symptoms became overwhelming, but after long discussions and visits with my doctor he prescribed paxil for both my depression and anxiety. Within two weeks I noticed improvement in my mood and experienced less nervousness. I even began to take my anti-anxiety med less often (it was to be used as necessary). Now I am doing more and experiencing more of life with the help of my doctor and paxil.

Advair Diskus - oboler - 07-03-2009

Before my doctor prescribed Advair for treatment of my asthma, I was using my rescue inhaler up to 4 times each day and waking up with wheezing. Since I began using Advair 2 years ago I have had fewer symptoms and am only using my rescue inhaler as needed, mostly once a week. It was lifechanging! And a great relief.

Seroquel - mdiramio - 07-03-2009

I was prescribed Seroquel for insomnia related to depression. It instantly turns off my racing mind and I can sleep a successful 8-10 hour night without tossing and turning. The downside is a RAGING appetite, but if you can learn to keep it at bay, it's worth it.
