As a form of allergy "blocker", zyrtec does its job. I used to use this when it was considered the "hammer", and would only be given during an actual severe attack. I was always happy with this brand, and would recommend it to anyone.

The only reason as to why I have stopped using it, is because I eventually become immune to certain medication, and unfortunately this is one that I have recently had to replace.

I live in a city where seasonal allergies are pretty nasty. Growing up here, I used to spend a good deal of the spring time as a child indoors. I've always found that Benadryl is the only antihistamine that can actually alleviate my allergy symptoms, but, alas, it leaves me lethargic, drowsy, and just plain out of it. Zyrtec, while not as good at alleviating allergy symptoms, didn't make me drowsy or out of it at all. I found that it was pretty good at making my stuffy nose feel better, and I was certainly sneezing less, but it did little to help out with my itchy eyes. So what I do now during the spring time is take an anti-allergy eye drops, which work great for taking care of itchy eyes, along with Zyrtec, which helps everything else.

My allegy symptoms include watery eyes, sneezing, and occassional difficulty catching my breath. Zyrtec was the third anti-histamine allergy medication that I tried. The other two left me with too many side effects and only coverage during certain seasons. Zyrtec has proven to alleviate my symptoms in spring - autumn and to do so in a way that seems to be completely side-effect-free. The relief has been complete. The only down-side that I am aware of thusfar seems to be that Zyrtec relief is not immediate. I seem to need to take it for two to three days before my symptoms completely disappear but that is a small price to pay for allergy relief.

I have to say Zyrtec has changed my life. I was constantly having allergy issues. I tried another well-known brand but the results were horrible. The other brand did not relieve my watery eyes, sneezing, and runny nose. I then switched to Zyrtec and within 3 days all of my symptoms were gone. I did not experience any side effects. I would suggest you to drinks extra fluids while taking it. I felt like a new person.

My allergies can be triggered by strong smells, animals, smoke, pollens and grasses. I now know that I have something that I can turn to very quickly and get true results. I will always speak highly of the medicine to family and friends.

My three year old daughter has severe allergies resulting in nasal congestion and sneezing and occasional sinus infections. Many of the allergy products I had tried before either made her sleepy or made her hyperactive. This product makes a huge difference in her symptoms without these effects.

I took the version you can get over the counter, not the one you have to go to the pharmacy for (without a prescription). It was all antihistimine. It works and I don't think it made me sleepy; I took the 24 hour dose at night so I slept off the first effects of it. The problem is that antihistimines are also associated with weight gain, so I decided to stop taking it. My allergies are mild enough that this was a reasonable choice to make.

Zyrtec has helped me greatly with my indoor and outdoor allergies.

I began taking Zyrtec after trying several other allergy medicines. Most helped me with some symptoms, but not all. Zyrtec was the first and only medication that helped with all my symptoms. The fact that it is a 24 hour medication is also a plus - there's no carrying around a pill bottle and guessing when it has been four to six hours.

Zyrtec also freed me from the drowsiness felt with other allergy medicines. I can take Zyrtec and still continue with my daily activities without worrying about falling asleep!

9 years ago I was diagnosed as suffering from chronic hives. My hives were so bad at times that I would be unable to sleep at night. It would toss and turn all night and I felt like all I wanted to do was crawl out of my skin. My physician told me that the hives were caused by an overproduction of histamine. My doctors started me on a myriad of medications, but only one worked. That one medication was Zyrtec. While other antihistamines I had taken caused me to suffer a multitude of side effects, including drowsiness and dry mouth, while taking Zyrtec I did not experience any side effects. It was truly a life changing medication for me. When I take Zyrtec I don’t get hives and seasonal allergies do not have any effect on me. I take one 10 mg pill every night before going to bed. Before Zyrtec I felt very restricted. It was embarrassing to be itching all the time and I felt very self conscious. Now things are so much better and I feel that I have gotten my life back.

I was given a 30-day round of Zyrtec to help clear my lungs (I had some bronchial constriction). Even though he told that it would not make me feel dizzy, I felt sleepy every time I took it. Also it did not help with much my lungs and eventually I had to go back to the doctor because I developed bronchitis.

A few months ago, this was recommended to me by my family physician when I a hives incident caused by dog shampoo. It was quite effective in controlling the itchiness; however, when I continued using it, after the hives went away, for my seasonal allergies it wasn't as effective. I had to switch back to Claritin.

While Zyrtec receives much promotion and has produced positive effects, it does not rank as high as another allergy product. I do get relief from these tablets and can take one any time without fear of dizziness or drowsiness, but it is not my first choice for relief from congestion and runny eyes/nose/etc. I do carry them with me, and they do produce fast relief which unfortunately only lasts for a short time (about 6 hours). I have not experienced any side-effects, and my twenty-year old son finds relief from them as well.

I live in an area with an extremely high pollen count. Also, I have a fairly damp and dusty basement. Zyrtec helps reduce my sneezing and stuffy nose that I get with seasonal allergies. It is especially useful for when I am mowing the lawn!

I work outside all day long conducting orientation for incoming freshmen college students. Our campus seems to have more trees flowers and grass that the national parks! I normally take zyrtec the night before and I never have problems the whole next day. I have really bad allergies!! I have had instances that I've had to stay home because the place my friends were going, was too much for me to handle as far as allergies go. Zyrtec helps me overcome this extreme problem.

I've had good results with Zyrtec in controlling my allergies. It's greatly cut down on the sneezing and runny nose symptoms that I normally have suffered. Zyrtec hasn't caused the extreme drowsiness that I've had to deal with from other anti-histimines. We've also used the children's versions of this medicine for our kids with pretty good results.

Zyrtec was prescribed to me by my allergist in lieu of otc Claritin. It was effective in treating my allergies. However, throughout the duration of my usage I became increasingly depressed. I finally connected this to the medicine and within days of discontinuing use I felt like a weight had been lifted off of me.

I had been on Claritin-D for approximately 5 years and had noticed that my allergies were worsening. I decided to try Zyrtec. Regrettably, I could not tolerate it. After one week, I decided to discontinue its use as I experienced an intolerable level of drowsiness and dry mouth. My allergy symptoms, however, did decrease.

Zyrtec is the only allergy medication that I have taken that is able to help all of my allergy symptoms. Typically when my allergies begin to bother me my nose will run, my eye will get extremely dry and my throat itches. Zyrtec helps me with all these symptoms however i felt extremely drowsy after taking them.

I developed serious allergies the summer I turned 17. I dealt with a runny nose, watery itchy eyes and sneezing for years until I turned 21. The summer I turned 21 I developed bronchitis and had to see a doctor, once the infection had cleared the doctor discovered I had untreated asthma. This was a shock to me, as I had never been diagnosed or even suspected as having asthma. I had several tests done to find that my asthma was the results of severe allergies. I tried the majority of prescription and over the counter anti-histamines, I was on at least five different meds treating both my asthma and allergies before I finally went to a new doctor and they prescribed Zrytec.
A few weeks after being prescribed Zytec I discovered I was pregnant with my first child! I stopped taking all of the asthma medications (not something I would recommend but I was terrified of what they might do to my son) and I took only Zyrtec throughout the pregnancy along with my emergency inhaler if needed. The Zyrtec worked so well that I had not a single bout of asthma the entire nine months. After my son’s birth I have continued to take Zytec, now in combination with only two other asthma meds. I can go for weeks without the asthma meds, as long as I stay on Zyrtec, the moment I stop taking it suddenly I have bouts of wheezing and all of my allergy symptoms come crashing back down. I have been on Zytec for about 1 and ½ years now, and I have not seen any signs of waning effectiveness. I intend to keep taking it as long as it works, and I hope that is a long time to come.

Allergies are nothing new to me. I've dealt with them for as long as I can remember. I was tested as a teen but my doctor didn't recommend allergy shots at that time and left me to try prescription after prescription to get results. I had pretty much given up on finding any medication either over the counter or prescription that would give me full relief by the time I was 30. I had been retested for allergies and found to be allergic to several things but the one thing that bothered me the most was environmental....cigarette smoke. Some brands set me off worse than others. I am not a smoker and neither is my husband. But, when you are in public you can't help but get a whiff of cigarette smoke in the air. Thank goodness our city passed the no smoking law in restaurants. My allergist prescribed Zyrtec to take care of the cigarette smoke which is a year round thing and also seasonal allergies.

Zyrtec worked well for me for about one year (2 allergy seasons). What I liked most about the product was that it had very low side-effects compared to the over-the-counter allergy medications. Unfortunately, after having taken Zyrtec for 2 seasons, it just didn't seem as effective. I'm not sure if my body built up a tolerance to the pill or what, but after a period of using Zyrtec, it no longer treated my allergy symptoms completely. I still had the itchy, watery eyes; itchy throat and sneezing. Currently I am using Claritin, it works just as well as Zyrtec did.

I began taking Zyrtec at a young age because of allergies to pollen, pet dander, and mold. I had the classic symptoms of seasonal and other allergies. These symptoms included itchy, watery eyes, running nose, and sore throat. When I first started taking it I would use it every day. Eventually I somewhat outgrew my allergies and now I only take it when necessary.

I never experienced any side-effects from Zyrtec. Usually allergy medicines would either put me to sleep or make me jittery. With Zyrtec I didn't experience either. The only thing that I would say is that if someone suffers from allergies on a daily basis, they should be sure to take the medicine everyday as it takes time to build up in your system.

I started taking Zyrtec when it was still prescription only. When it became over the counter and at a much less expensive price, I was jumping for joy.

Zyrtec is great for combating my particular allergies which centers around itchiness of my eyes, nose and sinuses. It is possible that it causes drowsiness but that isn't a problem for me as I take it before I go to bed. It takes the edge off of Dust mite issues from bedding, and lasts the rest of the next day.

I started taking Zyrtec for my seasonal allergies. I had the whole span of symptoms from a stuffy nose to coughing to watering eyes. Zyrtec definitely helped with the symptoms themselves. I had a marked decrease in all of them. However, Zyrtec made me so tired that I still did not feel well. My allergy symptoms were gone, but the symptoms of fatigue were added in their place. The end result was that I felt no better and was no more productive than I was prior to taking the allergy medication.

Zyrtec is the only anti-histamine that can keep my allergies reasonably under control. I've tried other brands, but I had lots of allergy symptoms even when taking them. Recently my doctor switched me to Allegra because Zyrtec went over-the-counter. That didn't help me at all. I had constant runny nose and itchy eyes, a cough, and felt like I had a cold most of the time. Since then I've gone back to Zyrtec because I decided that paying a little more for Zyrtec was worth it. My symptoms have pretty much gone away since that time.
