Zoloft is a good solution for many with depression and anxiety. I had pretty high levels of both, and Zoloft was recommended to me by my Dr. It definitely has alleviated both symptoms to a large degree.

Cons are definitely lack of sex drive. It is very hard to get stimulated and about 5x harder to climax. This is the trade off for better moods. I am still debating whether to continue because of this, but other than this side effect, it is worth looking into.

Unfortunately, Zoloft did not bring out the warm sun or scented flowers for me. It did stop the rain from falling on a daily basis and it did close the hole that was opening in the ground beneath my feet, but that was the extent of the effect that it had on me. It was definitely a relief not to see the world around me in cold, gray colors any longer, but I was hoping that this medication could help me to feel warmth around me and inside of me. I wish that it would have done more to help me be a part of life rather than just a spectator. Well, at least now I do not feel like walking away from the show like I did many times before now that I am on this medication. That I am grateful for. If I learn of a medicine that can help me to see the world in vibrant and warm colors, and the side effects are pretty minimal like they are with Zoloft for me, then I will switch and give the other medicine a try. For now, though, this medicine is helping me to feel more connected to life than before I started on this medicine, and that is an improvement that I do not want to give up.

When I first started using Zoloft it was a great help, I was depressed and could hardly keep up with my daily activities, it seems as time has gone on it doesn't work as well as it first did. Another thing I have noticed for my son who also takes it and for myself if we forget it for a day or two I get awful headaches and become very angry for no reason.

Zoloft was an amazing help to me when I suffered from depression years ago. I noticed results in only about 7-8 days - it was as if my tensions and stress just lifted and I began to feel like myself again. I also used it years later when I developed fibromyalgia and it was prescribed as a sleep aid. Again, after a brief period I noticed impressive results: I was able to sleep through the night and woke up feeling more refreshed and energetic. I would highly recommend Zoloft for symptoms of depression as well as fibromyalgia.

I was put on Zoloft for anxiety attacks. However, the Zoloft did not do much for them. At best, it helped me to distance myself somewhat from my anxiety. However, after four years of use, the anxiety was not any better.

I wish someone had told me how absolutely difficult Zoloft is to quit. I tapered off very slowly, and had a host of side effects. I struggled with depression quite a bit for a couple of months after stopping the drug, which was weird, as I'd never been depressed before. I wouldn't take this drug again as the withdrawal effects just aren't worth it.

Zoloft successfully resolved my anxiety and depression when I developed it in college. I have taken it the past 10 years with positive and consistent results. It has the least amount of transfer during pregnancy and breastfeeding which was a great relief when I decided to start a family. I have not experienced any side effects.

I am currently taking this medication. been on it for several years. it seems to have the least amount of side effects compared with medications i've taken in the past, but i wonder if it causes or contributes to weight gain? i still have symptoms at times, but over all the medication works OK. could be better, but this may be the best thing for me medication wise

I have very mixed feelings about Zoloft. I had tried other anti-depressants to treat both depression and anxiety, but my psychiatrist recommended we give this one a go. We started with 25 mg per day, and that seemed to work for a few weeks. When it wasn't working anymore we increased it to 50 mg per day, but that also only worked for a few weeks. By the end of it I was taking 200 mg per day and even then it just didn't seem to help.

It didn't turn me into a zombie like the others did, but it didn't really treat my symptoms, either. One of the most negative side effects was lack of sex drive. It seems trivial, but often with depression your relationship with your partner is effected. While he was trying to support me, it was hard for him to understand why I didn't want to be touched.

Zoloft, like Paxil, turned me into a zombie. It leveled my mood down into a survivable "low". I was neither suicidal nor happy, ever. It differed from Paxil in that on Paxil my life is a fog that drifted by, and my time on Zoloft felt like a struggle in which Zoloft merely kept me just out of danger. I was largely unmonitored while on this drug or I believe I would have come off it sooner. If you are suicidal this drug will help, beyond that it is useless. It did not help anxiety at all.

As far as SSRI type medications, Zoloft is pretty decent. It seems to quell my anxiety enough to prevent major episodes but not well enough to completely irradicate them. I don't really feel depressed so I'm guessing that effect of the medicine is working correctly.

This is the 3rd drug in my depression coctail, and it seems to be helping. Aside from weight gain (which I didn't have from any other psych drugs) I don't seem to have side effects.

I took Zoloft for depression. After taking Zoloft I got headaches on a regular basis. I did not feel any better and getting through the day was just as hard as it was before. It didn't make me feel any worse or any better. After a couple months I decided to stop taking it and thats when I finally felt a little better. I had no problems stopping the pill since I didn't take it for a long time.

I was not warned about the wight gain and was not told this drug is for anxiety and not really just for depression. Imagine my surpise when I slept for 16 hours a day and gained 40 pounds and did not care about anything. I would wake up and realize it was time to go to work and not go, or pick up my children and not go, or even just brush my teeth and not do it. The tiredness and the weight gain were bad enough, the people I made angry by my indifference was embarrassing. Know yourself before taking this drug. I was never told it is primarily for anxiety until after it altered my weight that I have not lost after 4 years.

I have had no problems what so ever with this medication, I was warned that it causes weight gain as do many of these types of medication but so far nothing. It has helped me quite a bit and I am glad of all the choices I had that I went with this one.

I started on Zoloft after suffering from severe anxiety and depression in high school. During that time the difference it made in my life and my ability to function was amazing. The effects were immediate, within two weeks of starting it I felt as though a huge burden was lifted. Taking Zoloft helped me out of the negative downward spiral I was stuck in and unable to control. I was able to go about my daily life, doing the dinner dishes no longer took two hours, I was able to do homework. I was also able to focus on some of the problems causing my anxiety and learn coping techniques that slowly allowed me to lower my dosage of Zoloft. There were no noticeable side effects and no problems with addiction.

I started taking Zoloft after a diagnosis of dysthymia following the death of my best friend. My doctor had told me that it would take a few days to a couple of weeks for the drug to start to take effect and that I would just gradually start to feel better. I had my doubts but was pleasantly surprised. After the drug kicked in I could actually think about my friend without crying.

There were no side effects while I was taking the medication but when I tried to quit I experienced an odd sensation of my body moving but my brain stopping. When I restarted the medication those symptoms of withdrawal went away.

Having endured panic attacks for over 12 years, which progressed in intensity and duration to the point of becoming agoraphobic, I mentioned this to my gastroenterologist. He placed me on 25mg of Zoloft. Within 3-4 weeks, depression (which I was not aware I had) lifted. That in itself was amazing and life changing. The panic attacks continued and after 6 weeks, my dosage was increased to 50mg which worked. It gave me my life back. No exaggeration. I'm back to my former self.

I have not been bothered by any side effects other than having more vivid dreams (all pleasant) and consider that a plus.

When I was entering high school, I had major depression issues that eventually decreased over time. My doctor put me on 2 drugs before this and certainly none were better than Zoloft. It really did help me become more happy and more alive about life. I'm not sure about how the internal processes work, but it certainly help.

The downside to Zoloft is when you go to get off. It was hard on me. It almost seemed as if I was turning to myself before Zoloft -- unhappy and dead about life. It did take a lot of gut power and will for me to get off of it and not revert back. But I did it.

Overall, Zoloft was good for me. It was easy to take and keep with as well.

I started using Zoloft while being treated for an Eating Disorder, Anxiety and Depression. I was on Zoloft ranging from 25mg up to 150mg over the course of 5 years. At that time I felt as though I had hit a wall, and it was not doing anything any longer. I stopped cold turkey (which I definitely do NOT recommend to anyone) and experienced horrific side effects. After trying various different medications over the following 3 years, I finally ended back on Zoloft. I started back up on it about 3 months ago, and things have been much better. Evertyhing in my daily life has improved and I plan on staying on it continously.

I suffered from extreme anxiety all my life, so severe that, looking back, I think it interfered with everything I wantedto accomplish. I was so fearful, I didn't go to a doctor for years and years, until I fell and broke my arm and it was discovered I had high blood pressure. I blurted out to the doctor that I was scared, and she asked me why. I couldn't answer so she put me on Zoloft. I broke my arm during one of the hottest summers I'd experienced and I had to wear a body immobilizer and sleep sitting up for weeks. I got yeast infections under both arms and had to have help bathing. I feel the Zoloft got me through that time, and more. My lifelong anxieties aren't as debilitating and I feel relaxed, and suffered no significant side effects.

I began having anxiety in college and it led to panic attacks, stomach problems, and trouble sleeping. After seeing a counselor for 6 months, the panic attacks were not decreasing and she recommended taking Zoloft for at least 6 months to see if it would help. Almost a week after starting, the Zoloft seemed to make a huge difference. I was more confident in situations where I previously felt "stuck" or had stomach upsets because I was anxious. The improvement continued until I felt pretty normal.

Side-effects I noticed were rapid heart beat, shakiness and bruising easily. However those things went away after I had been on the medicine for 4 or 5 months.

After almost 2 years I have stopped taking Zoloft because I started to feel an emotional numbness. I think I probably outlasted the medicines effectiveness, and it was just time to stop. Weaning off of the medicine was much easier than starting-- I had much less shakiness, headache and trouble with rapid heart beat. I think the Zoloft helped me have a break from the anxiety, and now I feel much more strong and able to deal with stress and worry.

Since a teenager, I have had problems with anxiety. It got so bad that I would not allow myself to be a kid and go out and have fun. I worried about every little thing and felt like I could only stay in my house. Last year, right after my grandmother died, it got even worse. I would shake constantly and not be able to sleep. Finally I went to a doctor I trusted and told her my problems. She prescribed my Zoloft. The first 2 weeks were rough. I had dry mouth and ground my teeth, but after that the effects where just amazing. I actually feel NORMAL for once in my life. I feel balanced and can do whatever I want. It has helped my marriage and anger issues involved. Best thing I have ever done

I took several different anti-depressants prior to the doctor putting me on Zoloft. None of them worked very well at keeping my depression under control, and most had unpleasant side effects, such as profuse sweating or dry mouth. From the day I was put on Zoloft, my life changed. I've had no problems with depression in the 10 years since that time, and there's been no reason for me to have to switch to still another medication.

I used it for an eating disorder and depression. It worked well enough for me at first, but it got to the point where it wasn't doing anything and I stopped cold turkey. It was horrible to get off of.

I have been using Zoloft for about 3 years to help with symptoms from menopause. I went off hormones because I had been on them for over 10 years, but the hot flashes were unbearable. My ob-gyn suggested I try Zoloft because she had found some success with it. After using Zoloft for about 30 days, I noticed that the hot flashes had reduced quite a bit and I rarely have them now. I recently had my annual check-up, and my doctor has begun to wean me off. I am taking Zoloft every other day for the next 3 months, and then I will go to every 3 days, etc. I had no side-effects at all using Zoloft.
