Metadate - Becky - 07-02-2009

Metadate is a wonderful drug! After taking it, my foster son was able to concentrate, be less irritable, actually focus on the task at hand. It really changed his behavior in a POSITIVE way! The only side effects we noticed were that he didn't have as much of an appetite.

Dimetapp Sinus - Becky - 07-02-2009

I do not like Dimetapp Sinus. I took it when I had a sinus infection and it made me feel sleepy and dehydrated. I also did not like the flavor. I think it made me feel worse rather than better.

Motrin - Becky - 07-02-2009

I have used Ibuprofen for many things. It helps with any aches and pains I might have. I love how it's long lasting and I can mix it with Tylenol when I am really sick. I give it to my children too when they have fevers. It's an awesome thing to have around! It's very safe and effective, easy to swallow and it's not expensive to buy. I have never experienced any side effects from Ibuprofen, nor have my children.

Keflex - Becky - 07-02-2009

The doctor prescribed me this when I had Bronchitis. I was very ill and could hardly do anything. The pills were easy to swallow with a glass of water. After about two days I began feeling much better. I did not have any bad side effects from this drug. Though my mom is very allergic to this drug.

Zoloft - Michelle - 07-02-2009

Zoloft, like Paxil, turned me into a zombie. It leveled my mood down into a survivable "low". I was neither suicidal nor happy, ever. It differed from Paxil in that on Paxil my life is a fog that drifted by, and my time on Zoloft felt like a struggle in which Zoloft merely kept me just out of danger. I was largely unmonitored while on this drug or I believe I would have come off it sooner. If you are suicidal this drug will help, beyond that it is useless. It did not help anxiety at all.

Lexapro - Michelle - 07-02-2009

After negative experiences with both Paxil and Zoloft, I started Lexapro with scepticism and trepidation. It turns out the Lexapro up to that point has worked out much better for me than the others. My biggest complaint about this drug is that I have experienced some severe sexual side effects that began on Lexapro. I tried after several years on the drug to go off Lexapro, hoping my depression had subsided, experienced a horrible, drawn-out withdrawal, and fell into the worst depression of my life. I began to feel improvement within the first week of starting Lexapro again. So I have mixed feelings about this drug- it helps for depression but comes with side effects. My biggest problem with Lexapro, however, is that it is not available as a generic. When I lost health insurance it was nearly impossible to attain or afford it. Also, I have found Lexapro to work best when combined with Wellbutrin.

Budeprion - Michelle - 07-02-2009

I cannot comment on Wellbutrin on its own, but as a supplement to Lexapro this drug has changed my life. The Lexapro on its own had been the most successful drug for treating my depression, but until adding the Wellbutrin I had no idea I could feel this different. The Wellbutrin has perked up my energy, I cope better with day to day challenges, am more focused, and while my mood is more stable I am not a zombie- my emotions fall in what feels to be a normal range, neither irrationally down or up. I also feel that it may have improved some negative sexual side effects occuring from the Lexapro. As a person who hesitates to put any chemicals in my body, I am relieved to have found Wellbutrin.

Paxil - Melissa - 07-02-2009

This is the best SSRI that I have ever been on.
It is the only SSRI that completely took care of my anxiety and depression symptoms. It also quelled my insomnia and allowed me to sleep for more than 4-6 hours at a time. However, my new doctor does not approve of the medication and will not prescribe it to me.

Paxil - Michelle - 07-02-2009

I was prescribed Paxil at the age of 13 for depression. Not only did it lessen my depression, it numbed all emotions. I was like a walking zombie for two years. If I forgot to take a pill, I would experience shocking sensations in my head and fingers, and dizziness. I had no interest in doing anything. An example of the extremity of the emotional numbness I experienced concerns a horrible car accident in which I was a passenger. As the car was flying through the air and rolling into the ditch, my only thought was a calm "so this is what it's like to die in a car crash", and when we were removed from the vehicle and the others were in hysterics, I sat calmly on the ground as though nothing happened.
After two years the doctor decided to take me off the medication and try talk-therapy. The withdrawal symptoms I experienced were the worst I have ever felt- extreme and constant shock sensations, dizziness, and nausea made functioning unbearable, as I could not focus on anything while experiencing this. After the withdrawal I laughed at something I saw on the TV and my mother looked over and said, "I think that is the first time I have heard you laugh in a few years."

Zoloft - Melissa - 07-02-2009

As far as SSRI type medications, Zoloft is pretty decent. It seems to quell my anxiety enough to prevent major episodes but not well enough to completely irradicate them. I don't really feel depressed so I'm guessing that effect of the medicine is working correctly.

Percocet 10/650 - Tony - 07-02-2009

I was prescribed Percocet after having my wisdom teeth removed. It worked sufficiently as a painkiller, not completely eliminating my pain but reducing it enough to be bearable. I found, however, that it made me somewhat sick to the stomach, which was compounded by my extremely limited diet. I also did not enjoy the lightheadedness and slightly confused state it left me in.

Lioresal Intrathecal - BrianK - 07-02-2009

I have been using this medication almost from the beginning when I incurred a spinal cord injury. Before using this medication I could not transfer myself out of bed with out assistance or anywhere else. I had the pump (which delivers this medication) implanted reducing my spasms so that I could become independent in my transferring. There have been a few issues with the pump throughout the years but I would not live with out it now.

Tylenol with Codeine - mnolan - 07-02-2009

The doctor prescribed this medication for my 2 year old daughter when she had an ear infection and allergies in her eyes. After 2 doses of pain medicine and 1 dose of her new antibiotics, she was like her normal self again. She slept all night for the first time in almost 3 days. A little one in pain is the worst, they don't have the words to express it. So, it becomes harder to treat them.

She experienced no side effects only the common effect of sleepiness, which I don't think was an issue since she needed sleep badly.

I started on Ambien last year and have really noticed a change for the better in my sleep habits. It helps me to fall asleep and stay that way all night. I can take it only a few times a week or all week and know that I'll rest either way.

Darvocet - Lisa - 07-02-2009

After having minor surgery, I was prescribed darvoset for pain. Luckily I was not in much pain, but took the pills just in case. They did make me a little dizzy but did help the little pain that I did have. I took a pill before bed for 2 nights, and had the weirdest dreams ever. I didn't sleep particularly well either. A friend mentioned that darvoset should be taken with food or milk, which was not written on the label. This may explain the dizziness and strange dreams.

About 6 months later, I fell and injured my knee and hip. I took a few left over pills and they did absolutely nothing to help the pain. Many of my friends swear by darvoset, but it really hasn't worked for me.

Flonase - Coolv - 07-02-2009

My doctor prescribed a few medications for allergies, flonase being one of them. I highly recommend the medication for anyone with a stuffed nose. The results happened within 24 hours of using. Other medication gave me a itchy, sneezing feeling while the flonase just cleared the passageway so I could breathe easier.

Lantus - Lisa - 07-02-2009

I thought I would never get my Type 2 Diabetes under control. My blood sugar level in the morning was always too high. I resisted insulin, but my doctor talked me into it. I was amazed at how easy the pen was to use. (If you try this, be sure to get the pen instead of the bottle as it is easier and the needle is very short compared to having to use a syringe.)

I now take 60 units at bedtime and my blood sugar level is usually between 100-120 in the morning. This is fantastic compared to the readings I got without lantus.

Luckily I never experienced any side effects. This may be due to taking it at bedtime.

Glucophage - carbby - 07-02-2009

Once I got past the initial side effects of loose stools, the biggest challenge has been to remember to take my pill two times a day. I only now get loose stools if I eat too much carbohydrate. I was given this drug because my blood sugars are on the rise, but not high enough to be diagnosed as a Type II Diabetic. My sugars have stabilized with the use of the drug. An added side effect that is a plus is that my monthly period has become as regular as clockwork and I can predict to the day when it will happen which makes life a lot easier. I have also noticed that it is easier for me to loose weight when I take this medication and have lost 12 pounds since starting to take this drug.
