Nasonex - Pete - 06-15-2009

I have spent the last ten years dealing with allergy issues. The worst time of the year was definitely spring time with all of the pollen around. Every morning I would wake up with a running nose and sneezing. Nasonex worked wonders for this. Now, I am able to get up every day with a clear head. My nose isn't runny and I don't have to worry about having my allergies bother me during the day. I have used Nasonex regularly during the springtime for the past five years. On other occasions when I feel my allergies creep up, I also use Nasonex.

Adjusting to Nasonex was easy. There were not many complications getting my body used to the medication. At first, I felt a light burning sensation when using Nasonex. This feeling only occurred during the first couple weeks of using the product. The medication also occasionally makes me feel a little bit drowsy, but this is only on occasion and not a regular concern. The biggest benefit to taking Nasonex was the drastic effect it had on my itchy and watery eyes. When I am on this medication, I never have that problem. All in all, Nasonex is a very useful allergy medication

Protonix - Big E - 06-15-2009

Unfortunately, I was the "1 in a million" side effect person, I ended up with type II Diabetes (due to a now elevated A1C). It was never even suggested by my doctor that this drug had a side effect like this. Due to the Type II Diabetes, I now am forced to take multiple other medications and suffer from other side effects as well. I should have just handled the heart burn without consulting a doctor.

Flexeril - Kelly A - 06-15-2009

I suffer from neck and shoulder pain. My doctor, after evaluating the pain, determined that I had muscle swelling in my upper neck from tension/stress that I was "holding" in that area causing almost a "rock-like" feel in my neck and shoulder area.

He recommended Flexeril and recommended that I start out with the 5 mg because it does cause drowsiness. I found it to be very effective. It does relax the muscles and I was extremely satisfied with the results.

Take this medication for anxiety issues. It is a pill that slows down the nervous system for me so I am not worrying about everything. It makes me drowsiness and able to cope with life when things are out of control. No side effects other than sleepiness.

Paxil - coolv85041 - 06-15-2009

Prescribed this medication for a few years and notice the difference when not taking the daily dosage. At first is was just 5mg but I know it had to be moved up to 20mg so now I do not get depressed as much and a little more motivation gets me doing daily activities I would not want to normally perform. Paxil, also Paroxeteine does help but you have to take it daily as prescribed. Side affects are nausea and drowsiness.

Benicar HCT - heather - 06-15-2009

I was placed on Benicar/HCT 40mg/12.5 for my high blood pressure when I became allergic to another medication. I have been taking this for a year now and my blood pressure has been under control.

The cons for me is this medication makes me have to urinate often and I often feel fatigue. The pros for me is having my blood pressure under control and I feel a lot healthier.

Toprol-XL - Kathy - 06-14-2009

I was diagnosed with high blood pressure at an early age, but that wasn't my only problem. I also suffer from tachycardia; sometimes my heart rate was so high I couldn't even count it.

I went through quite a few different medications trying to find one that was right. Metoprolol not only regulates my blood pressure, but it controls the rapid heartbeat. As long as I take it at the same time every day, I don't have any problems at all. It really has changed my life.

Percocet 10/650 - hbmarsh - 06-14-2009

Taking Percocet was extremely helpful to me after having a C-section with my babies. I experienced a lot of pain after giving birth, and Percocet got me through it. I was also functional while taking it, although it sometimes made me sleepy. I was very careful about taking it so that I could remain functional without getting addicted. I felt I was prescribed the right amount, as it was effective without being overwhelming.

Xanax - Jessica - 06-14-2009

I always had horrible anxiety to the point where I could barley hang out with my friends. When I was given this I thought oh great another pill that won't work. Anytime I started feeling "antsy" I would take one. At first I didn't think it was helping. Then I noticed that I was inviting my friends out more and laughing alot more that I did. I don't feel uncomfortable around people anymore. Thats the way things should be.

Seroquel - thecrwth - 06-14-2009

This is one of only a few drugs that has taken the edge off of my anxiety. However, the side effects are very difficult to deal with. I need to manage some parts of my life around this drug. IE Take early, plan things later in the afternoon to avoid early morning fatigue. It has also limited my tolerance for physical activity. That all said, it is worth it to have that much relief from anxiety.

Effexor - Meg - 06-14-2009

I have been taking Effexor XR for the past few years to treat general anxiety and depression. Overall, it has been a great medication and has helped me to stay mentally fit. Although right now, I am not taking the right dosage (couldn't afford the additional milligrams it while I was off of insurance), and so I do not think I am receiving the full benefits of the drug at this time, as my anxiety and depression are more apparent than I'd like them to be. That is, compared to when I know I am on the right dosage of medication.

The side effects for me really only include Inorgasmia, which I notice with all anti-anxiety/depression medications. Otherwise, the only ill effects I notice are when I skip a day. In those cases, I am fatigued, off-balance, have very vivid dreams, and can sleep for extended periods. As long as I take it every day, though, side effects have been very minimal.

Bactrim - SRR - 06-14-2009

I have taken this medication twice, both times for a urinary tract infection. I was extremely pleased with it. The first time it worked within approximately four hours, the second time (when I caught the infection earlier) results were almost immediate.

I had very few side effects. The first time I felt a little queasy for a day or so and noticed a lack of appetite. (Unfortunately this did not last long enough to lose even a pound or two.)

If my results are typical, this is an excellent drug and very efficient.

Valium - JCG - 06-14-2009

I had been going through some stressful events in my life and was feeling anxiety and restlessness and a lack of focus. My doctor prescribed valium/diazepam and advised me to take it to help with the edginess I was feeling. Well, I began to take the pills and didn't really feel any better, but my wife noticed that I was acting a bit strange and odd, things that I don't remember. After about 3 weeks, I do remember sitting at the kitchen table with a box of Kleenex, and I began to take one out at a time and lay them on the table. My wife asked me what I was doing, and I gave her a nonsensical answer. It was at that point the she called the doctor, and he advised me to gradually stop taking the medication by cutting back the dose and number of times I was taking it. Eventually the strange feelings abated. He then put me on Paxil at night, which has been much better for my anxiety. I do not recommend diazepam.

Mevacor - SuzyQ - 06-14-2009

I have always had high cholesterol, even though I am very careful about my diet. I use very few eggs, eat very little cheese, red meat or other cholesterol-laden foods, yet my numbers have always been in the 200-230 range. (I must say my father also had high cholesterol, and he ate even better than I did.) At any rate, my doctor decided to put me on Lovastatin to get my numbers down. They have come down to about 200, but I am trying really hard to break that 200 mark. I have ramped up my exercise but my lipid panels seem to hover around 200. My doctor doesn't want to increase the dosage right now because he's concerned about some of my blood work, but we will re-evaluate at my next physical, in about three month. I'd give this a "Good" rating if my numbers fell below 200.

I had no physical side effects, but we're keeping a check on my bloodwork, which has fluctuated a bit since going on the medicine.

Ritalin - Pharmkela - 06-14-2009

The product works exactly as intended - it helps you to focus on whatever you're doing, and clears your mind of just about everything else. Unfortunately, if what you're focusing on is anything other than what you'd like to be doing by the time it kicks in, changing your focus to what you want to do is difficult. However, as long as the focus remains correct when it kicks in, the product works wonderfully.

The product should not be taken in the evening, as I have been kept awake by it if taken too late. Metabolism is increased, and trips to the toilet are slightly more frequent. It suppresses my appetite, and it's easy to lose weight if not careful. Dry mouth is frequent, as is bad breath - if you're taking it, bring mints with you! You can brush your teeth vigorously and use the most effective mouthwash in the world, but if you take this after, it won't matter a bit. Your breath will stink.

Xanax - Deswar - 06-13-2009

I have been taking this medication for over ten years for anxiety. Combined with an anti-depressant I can function normally again. The only time I take it is when I can't seem to calm down and relax. My prescription is as needed, and if you don't abuse it then you won't get addicted to it. It does cause me to want to eat after it wears off. Overall I believe it's a good medication for someone who needs it and can manage their doses.

Zyrtec - Steve - 06-13-2009

I began taking Zyrtec at a young age because of allergies to pollen, pet dander, and mold. I had the classic symptoms of seasonal and other allergies. These symptoms included itchy, watery eyes, running nose, and sore throat. When I first started taking it I would use it every day. Eventually I somewhat outgrew my allergies and now I only take it when necessary.

I never experienced any side-effects from Zyrtec. Usually allergy medicines would either put me to sleep or make me jittery. With Zyrtec I didn't experience either. The only thing that I would say is that if someone suffers from allergies on a daily basis, they should be sure to take the medicine everyday as it takes time to build up in your system.

Ambien - heather - 06-13-2009

I had been having problems with insomnia and my doctor prescribed Ambien, 5mg. Though it did put me to sleep quite effectively, I had some negative side effects. In one instance, I had low grade hallucinations and a brief period of sleep walking. Overall, this prescription was effective in ending my insomnia but not without consequence.

While pregnant with my second child, I suffered severe heartburn. After delivery, it continued to be unbearable. I had to sit up at night to sleep.

I took Prilosec for a total of 9 months and am now heartburn free. It has made a tremendous difference in my sleep at night and the foods that I can eat. Luckily I didn't do any permanent damage to my esophogus with this problem.

Zyrtec - AR - 06-13-2009

I started taking Zyrtec when it was still prescription only. When it became over the counter and at a much less expensive price, I was jumping for joy.

Zyrtec is great for combating my particular allergies which centers around itchiness of my eyes, nose and sinuses. It is possible that it causes drowsiness but that isn't a problem for me as I take it before I go to bed. It takes the edge off of Dust mite issues from bedding, and lasts the rest of the next day.

Prozac - L McCord - 06-13-2009

I have never been officially diagnosed with any form of a clinical depression, however, I have suffered panic attacks and noticeable mood swings. After I began treatment for ulcerative colitis, my doctor felt the Prozac would help me manage the anxiety & stress so that it doesn't aggravate the digestive conditions. While I have felt very little side effects while taking Prozac, I don't particularly notice being overly "happy" either. It just seems to help keep me at an even keel. The only time I've noticed a significant change is when I quit taking it for a couple of weeks and then I began to realize the anxiety was ramping up a bit and my stomach was pretty torn up. Of course, the week I accidentally doubled my Prozac and cut my Prilosec in half because the capsules looked almost identical, I noticed a difference!
