Klonopin - chrissy112778 - 07-01-2009

My Dr. prescribed Klonopin to me about a year ago for panic disorder. I am ordered to take one "as needed". I first started out breaking one in half when I felt the symptoms of a panic attack coming on, and it resolved the symptoms of panic in about 15 minutes. After about 6 months of taking half a pill, I now have to take a whole pill to feel the same effects. So there is the chance of dependency. Although they made me a bit drowsy at first, it was nothing that could not be controlled if taken in as small of doses as possible. I feel as though this medication has helped me tremendously in coping with panic disorder.

I was given these for a few surgeries in the past mostly was on them for 2 weeks. I try not staying on pain meds cause I hear alot of people get addicted to them but for pain these worked really well for me last time I was given these was when I had surgery a month ago on removal of a brest lump and in all honesty I never had one bit of pain left while takeing these.

Roxicodone - Rosebud - 07-01-2009

I am on this medication because of having 5 lower back surgeries, having R.S.D.S. in both lower extremities, and having degenerative disc all the way up my spine.

I do not like the way people treat me at the pharmacy when they see what my medicines are, they really treat me like an addict. I do not think that this medicine last as long as it should. The side effects are horrible for example, constipation, dry mouth, insomnia, and vomiting.

I know from experience this medicine is not a good one.

Flonase - Johnny - 07-01-2009

This product completely eliminates my seasonal allergies. They can be pretty severe and they span over a wide range of allergens. The nasal delivery makes the product easy to use although it can be easy to forget, especially in the 2 weeks the product is not yet effective. I do not plan to change medications in the future.

Adderall-XR - Rosebud - 07-01-2009

I am so thankful for this medication. I am an adult AD/HD patient. This medication has made it possible for me to watch movies, write reviews, and live life really.

I am actually on the 30 mg capsules 2 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon and I really don't have any complaints about it.

Some of the side effects that are tolerable that I have experienced are: Dry Mouth, sometimes it makes some of my OCD symptoms worse, and occasional stomach upset. The worst thing I can say about this medication is that you have to keep it under lock and key so that no one steals it.

Make sure that you have enough of a supply until your next doctor's visit because this medication can cause withdrawal symptoms.

Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo - Rosebud - 07-01-2009

I started taking this medication after I changed OB/GYN doctors and found out that I had PCOS. My cycle was never regular, when I would start my cycle was extremely heavy, and I would go years and not have one cycle and then have three in one month. So this was really a lifesaver for me, I am regular now, I have lighter cycles, and now I am finally able to try and have my first child!!! I didn't have any negative side effects what so ever, it even took away my cramps!!! Good Luck To All!!!

Advair Diskus - Lane - 07-01-2009

I was given Advair as a substitute for my regular inhaler. My allergist thought that some of my problems with allergies may actually be asthma related as my mother and son both have asthma. The first time that I used Advair, I thought that I experienced some relief, but after two weeks felt no relief whatsoever. I returned to my regular allergy medication with great success. I actually had some dizziness and raw throat when I used this medication. My son was prescribed Advair, but he did not have any better experience than I did and returned to his regular inhaler.

A few months ago, this was recommended to me by my family physician when I a hives incident caused by dog shampoo. It was quite effective in controlling the itchiness; however, when I continued using it, after the hives went away, for my seasonal allergies it wasn't as effective. I had to switch back to Claritin.

Celebrex - Lane - 07-01-2009

I was given a trial prescription for Celebrex after breaking five bones in my left foot. My doctor said that I was at prime age for suffering from osteoporosis. He said that my x-ray did not show a strong bone structure and that given my small frame, that as a post-menopausal woman should consider this medication. I took the Celebrex, but experienced pain in my knees and all other major joints of my body. I continued to attempt to take the prescription, presuming that the pain I was experiencing was due to the "improvement" in my bones, but after a few weeks, I was unable to stand the pain any longer. I decided that I would not continue to take this medication even though others praise it.

Crestor - Lane - 07-01-2009

My husband had a stroke at age 54. He was hospitalized and during the testing, he was told that he had had a heart attack sometime before this stroke. He was also told that he had high blood pressure and high cholesterol. He was prescribed Crestor and remained on this drug for one year. He remained under a doctor's care during this time and was able to lower his blood pressure and cholesterol level. While the results were satisfactory, he experienced some problems with taking this statin. His side-effects included vertigo, but it was inconclusive as to which drug that he was taking actually caused the repeated dizzy spells. After the year, he had no trouble or side effects when he stopped taking the Crestor.

Lipitor - Lane - 07-01-2009

My husband had a stroke at age 54. He was presumably in good health, but when admitted into the hospital for stroke treatment and testing, his cholesterol was found to be over 300. He had poor diet, and he was somewhat over weight for his height. He was told that he had already had a heart attack. He overcame his stroke which left only a reduced use of his left hand, but he remained under a doctor's care for a year for his cholesterol. Lipitor and a strict diet helped him get his level and maintain his level, and after his year of treatment, he maintained a good cholesterol level through good diet and exercise. He did not experience any side-effects from the medication of Lipitor, but the desire to stay "drug-free" helped him focus on good healthy lifestyle. He never had to take this medication again.

Keflex - Lane - 07-01-2009

I was first prescribed Cephalexin (Keflex) for a kidney/bladder infection. I had suffered nearly 7 months before this medication was prescribed (after other antibiotics offered no relief), and I experienced immediate relief. The effects were good and without any side-effects. My daughter was prescribed Cephalexin for an infection she acquired during a travel trip, and she also experienced immediate and positive relief. I have also taken Keflex after oral surgery for soft tissue infection. This is the only antibiotic that I have experienced this positive relief other than with basic penicillin of the past.

Darvocet - Lane - 07-01-2009

I have been prescribed Darvocet several times. The first time was after an automobile accident in which I suffered multiple injuries. While the injuries did not require surgery, I had three injured vertebrates, a cracked knee cap, a head injury, among other more minor ones. I found Darvocet to be somewhat pain-relieving although not as strong as I expected. The next time I was prescribe Darvocet was after severe third-degree burns to my right hand. I took the medication several months before "Physical Therapy" in which burned skin had to be debrided every 24 hours for new Silvadene burn medication to be administered. There was little relief, or if there would have been more pain without the Darvocet, I would not have wanted to experience it. So, I assume that the medication made the treatment bearable. I did not experience any negative side-effects, and I had no problems with discontinuing taking it.

Valium - mike_a - 07-01-2009

I was given 2 tablets of Valium in advance of having a wisdom tooth extracted by an oral surgeon. I had expressed anxiety about the procedure beforehand, so they suggested to take one the night before to help me get a good night's sleep, and one the morning of the procedure. Between the Valium and the nitrous oxide they used, I didn't worry a bit, and it was all over before I knew it.

Adderall - John - 07-01-2009

I had a very hard time studying and focusing during longer tests in college. Adderall definitely helped me think quickly and stay focused.

It had a positive side effect of a sense of "well being" and a negative side effect of headaches.

Valium - Lane - 07-01-2009

I was first prescribed Valium for pain and stress when I developed bursitis at age 19. My physician prescribed this medication before my actual diagnosis. I complained that I got no relief from my pain. I experienced some confusion and disorientation, but that was attributed to my bursitis and youth. I discontinued taking Valium at that time. Later in life, I was again prescribed Valium for pain and stress after an automobile accident in which a driver ran a red light and totaled my vehicle. I had multiple injuries and did not experience any relief from Valium. Again, I felt disoriented and in a haze, and so I stopped taking the medication. I did not experience any physical side-effects that other pain-relievers cause (headaches, nausea, etc.), but I did not feel that the Valium gave me any positive relief. I doubt that I will ever accept a prescription from a physician for Valium under any circumstances.

Vicodin - mike_a - 07-01-2009

I was prescribed Vicodin following a wisdom tooth extraction. Having the Vicodin definitely reduced the amount of pain I felt while recovering. This was a big relief to me, since often over-the-counter pain relievers such as acetaminophen alone are not very effective for me.

I take this every day to treat my hypothyroidism. I did not suffer extreme symptoms like some have reported before I was diagnosed, but I do notice if I go off the medicine for a while that my energy levels decrease. It is important to have your doctor recheck your hormone levels regularly when taking this medication to make sure that your dosage is correct.

Zyrtec - Lane - 07-01-2009

While Zyrtec receives much promotion and has produced positive effects, it does not rank as high as another allergy product. I do get relief from these tablets and can take one any time without fear of dizziness or drowsiness, but it is not my first choice for relief from congestion and runny eyes/nose/etc. I do carry them with me, and they do produce fast relief which unfortunately only lasts for a short time (about 6 hours). I have not experienced any side-effects, and my twenty-year old son finds relief from them as well.
