Nasonex - Gary E - 06-30-2009

I suffer from seasonal allergies. Every year depending upon how bad the allergens are in the year depend on weather or not I take Nasonex. I live in South Florida and the weather is sporadic. Anyhow, my symptoms included itchy eyes, redness, blurred vision, and anywhere from sever congestion to rhinitis. Nasonex is the only produc to help clear my nasal congestion and help me with these allergies.

No side effects were experienced, but the taste when it drips into the back of your throat is somewhat less then desirable.

Allegra - Mississippi - 06-30-2009

I have really bad allergies, and I used Allegra for a period of time, but it really did not do a great job. I was able to control my allergies after a few weeks of taking the medicine by rotating between Allegra and Benadryl. I would take generic Benadryl at night and then take Allegra during the day.
In my opinion you just need to figure out exactly what medicine works best for you. I have tried most every brand possible, and Allegra didn't work great for me, but it might work better for someone else out there.

Wellbutrin SR - Polly - 06-30-2009

After years of trying different medications for chronic depression (the clinical term used was dysthymic disorder), a psychiatrist opted for aggressive treatment consisting of 200mg of Wellbutrin twice a day. My insurance substituted a generic, Bupropion, and I've been taking that for the past two years. At various times during the two years I've been taking the medication, I experienced different side effects such as dry mouth (most common), excessive thirst, and hyper-alertness. The hyper-alertness occurred for about the first 1-2 months I was on the medication. It felt as if I had too much energy, and I was too wired to sleep, but suffered no tiredness from the lack of sleep, aside from constant yawning. The bout of excessive thirst lasted 2-3 weeks and no matter how much water or liquid I consumed, it never quenched my thirst. Then, just as suddenly as it appeared, it was gone. Aside from these side effects, this medication alleviated the symptoms of my depression and allowed me to function normally for the first time in many, many years. It wouldn't be so far off to say that it changed my life.

Synthroid - Kimberly - 06-30-2009

I have felt lethargic, lazy and depressed for years. I thought I was just... lethargic and lazy. When my doctor told me I was hypothyroid, and put me on this medicine I was worried. I didn't want to have to take a pill every day of my life, I didn't really believe it would do me any good and when I researched hypothyroidism online I read all sorts of horror stories about people who wanted some other medicine, but doctors wouldn't let them have it.

After just a couple of weeks, though, I felt a change. I haven't noticed any bad side-effects, but I have lost 14lbs in the 8 weeks I've been taking it, and I couldn't lose weight to save my life before. My doctor says it's replacing what's missing, so that my metabolism can function again. I have a long way to go, but I'm starting to feel motivated again, my skin isn't so dry anymore, either. I have a long way to go, but I don't think I'd be able to even contemplate it without being on this medicine.

Lithobid - Amber - 06-30-2009

I'm satisfied with the Lithium for treating my Bipolar Disorder. However, it's a medication I'd rather not be in strictly for the fact that it's lithium. It's not like everyone thinks though.

It doesn't make you all "zoned out" and "high" In fact, I don't really feel much of a difference. It wasn't until we added other medications in the mix that I started feeling much better.

So, I guess my review is to say not to be scared of it because of it's bad rap... give it a try. It could work for you.. it's not as bad as it sounds.

Diflucan - Pollypink - 06-30-2009

I've experienced frequent yeast infections since I was 16. Over-the-counter medications weren't effective, but when my doctor prescribed Diflucan, I experienced almost immediate relief. I was instructed to take one 150mg tablet per week for two weeks; within a few days of taking the first tablet I noticed considerable lessening of the symptoms of a yeast infection. There were no noticeable side effects and I plan on using it again in the event of another bout of yeast infection.

Lamictal - Amber - 06-30-2009

I started Lamictal a couple of weeks ago. I just recently moved up to two 25 mg tablets once a day. (I'm still on the orange starter pack). This medication has literally changed my life.

I went from some violent mood swings to being a normal calm human being. I still have my days, especially when I'm PMSing, but compared to how I was feeling about two months ago, I feel so great. Even my friends and family can tell the difference. I would definitely recommend it!

Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo - Amber - 06-30-2009

I've been on several birth controls because I have PCOS. This one is Okay... and only okay. My periods are longer with it and the cramps are worse...but at least the period is there.

I also have worse headaches with the Ortho Tri Cyclen than when some of the others I've tried, but the weight gain is not as bad.

So, it's got it's negatives, but like all of them, it's also got it's positives. Good Luck!

Coumadin - BrianK - 06-30-2009

I was prescribed this medication for a blood clot which formed in my right leg. It is a blood thinner which helps dissolves the clot. It seems to be a bit tricky in regulating the amount at first but once you get it you only need to get your blood tested once a month.

I was also prescribed it many years ago for the same condition. It worked then and I'm confident that it will work again.

Nasonex - Kelly A - 06-30-2009

I have awful sinus problems during the spring with the pollen season and was constantly trying different allergy medications. I heard all of the rave reviews about Nasonex and decided to give it a try. It worked very well for me. I learned very quickly, though, that it only requires a little for it to be effective and to not cause burning. A little of Nasonex went a long way for me.

Xanax - John - 06-30-2009

I used Xanax in the past to stop an alcoholic binge. Instead of needing alcohol in the morning to stop shaking, I took a Xanax. That way I could go to work instead of starting the drinking pattern all over. That was abuse of the drug, but it worked. Eventually I needed to be in alcohol treatment, and after I was, I had no need for Xanax until five years later.
What happened then was a siege of terror by a psychopathic neighbor which gave me panic attacks for months afterward. A prescribed 0.5 mg Xanax helps me take the edge off when that happens, though it does make me sleepy if I take it during the day.

Tenormin - John - 06-30-2009

Atenolol did lower my blood pressure to normal levels, and without any noticeable side effects to me, so I can recommend it.
Later in life, I lost 30 pounds, and as an experiment, stopped taking it to see if I still needed it. My blood pressure had become normal naturally, so I stopped taking it to save the expense, which I recall, was not too big anyway.

Paxil - John - 06-30-2009

This was an attempt to see if antidepressants would work for me, and I had been hearing about them on TV. I took Paxil for less than two weeks until I could not put up with the side effects, which were constipation, and numbness in my male organ. Other antidepressants do work for me, but with this one the side effects outweighed any potential benefits if I was to keep taking it.

Lexapro - John - 06-30-2009

I was prescribed Lexapro while in a treatment center for alcoholism. It worked very well and kept my mood swings fairly level for almost a year. Major lifestyle changes and the resulting stress started me drinking again for awhile, but Lexapro really helped keep me straight during and after treatment.

I was having angina quite often after my first heart attack. This medicine stopped most of my angina and rarely do I have to take the little nitro pills anymore.

The only problem I’ve seen is the bad after taste when I take my pill, but I haven’t seen any other problems.

Neurontin - nanners - 06-30-2009

I have been given this medication to help with nerve pain brought on by the demylation caused by MS. For me, especially in the eyes, it has helped to control the pain on those nerves. I notice that I do get somewhat tired on it, but I imagine that will go away in time. I have had no other issues with it though, and it really has seemed to help. I was told by my nurologist to take it as needed for the attacks on my nerves.

Lovenox - Bubluck - 06-30-2009

My regular blood thinner is Coumadin, but I have problems with my INR going up and down pretty fast. When I drop below 2.0, I have to use Lovenox until my numbers get above 2.0 which may be 1 or 2 days, or as much as a week.

The actual shots in your stomach aren’t as painful as it sounds, but if you rub the area you can get a large bruise. If you don’t inject very deep, the medicine will pool under the skin and form a huge bruise, so you have to insert the needle completely in to avoid bruising.

Lutera - Ana - 06-30-2009

Lutera was the best birth control I took. My periods were light and lasted 3-4 days tops. Side effects included weight gain and some unexpected moodiness before my periods.
