Because I suffer from high cholesterol and high blood pressure because of the foods I eat and my salt intake, it was recommended that I try Lipitor. I am just starting it, but have not really had any negative side effects from it thus far. It's working for me. My cholesterol lever is lower.

I was put on lipitor a few years ago because my cholesterol was moderately high. I was taking it for about 2 months and during that time I noticed that I was experiencing muscle weakness and muscle twitches in various parts of my body. The twitches happened several times a day. This was very odd as I was very active and healthy and never experienced muscle weakness before. Within a few days of stopping the lipitor, the weakness and twitches slowly subsided and I never had this problem again. I also later was able to normalize my cholesterol through diet and nutrition.

I have high cholesterol. I have been unsuccessful in lowering my cholesterol on my own so my doctor had me try Lipitor. Now I should say I know many people who take this drug and do fine, but I had a reaction.

I started having muscle aches and pains and thought maybe I was getting the flu. Then I read about the possible side-effects of Lipitor and found out that muscle ache can be an adverse reaction. I was concerned that maybe I was being a little bit of a hypochondriac and waited awhile to see if the symptoms would go away. They didn't and I got on the internet and found out there can be serious damage done to liver and muscle tissue if you are sensitive to this medication.

I called my doctor and was taken off the medication immediately. I had liver and muscle tests done and my liver readings were headed twoward the bad side. Since I have been off for over six months, my liver functions are back in the nromal range.

Its a good drug for those who can take it. Just watch yourself or a loved one for symptoms of side effects. I am unable to take any Stain based medication.

I was put on a statin following a heart attack. I did not have high cholesterol, but statins serve other purposes too. I was first put on Zocor but requested a change to Lipitor so I can take it earlier in the evening than Zocor. My cholesterol levels are still fine, but the real benefit seems to be a marked lowering in CRP, which is another risk factor for heart attacks. Over time, my CRP level dropped dramatically, presumably lowering the risk of another cardiac event. (There is currently controversy around the importance of CRP, but for various reasons, I believe the CRP-lowering effect of Lipitor to be extremely important.)

I was esed for cholesterol in my mid 30s and found that it was higher than normal. I was able to control it with diet and exercise for several years. The doctor prescribed Lipitor when diet and exercise was no longer enough. I've taken it ever since and have been able to maintain good choleserol levels.

I've changed doctors a few times and questioned whether another medication may be better and all doctors have recommended Lipitor. I've had no side effects, and can enjoy an occasional hamburger without guilt.

Even though I have been trying to eat right, I could not get by cholesterol numbers down. My mother died of a heart attack at an early age and had problems with high cholesterol, so my doctor and I decided to give Lipitor a try. I just had my 6 month recheck and my bad cholesterol has dropped at least 30 points and my good cholesterol actually went up a bit.

My liver values are good and I have no noticeable side effects. I plan on continuing with this medication as long as my blood values stay good.

My husband had a stroke at age 54. He was presumably in good health, but when admitted into the hospital for stroke treatment and testing, his cholesterol was found to be over 300. He had poor diet, and he was somewhat over weight for his height. He was told that he had already had a heart attack. He overcame his stroke which left only a reduced use of his left hand, but he remained under a doctor's care for a year for his cholesterol. Lipitor and a strict diet helped him get his level and maintain his level, and after his year of treatment, he maintained a good cholesterol level through good diet and exercise. He did not experience any side-effects from the medication of Lipitor, but the desire to stay "drug-free" helped him focus on good healthy lifestyle. He never had to take this medication again.

My cholesterol was over 300 and we tried diet and several other drugs without any results. My doctor put me on Lipitor and at my next six month checkup, my cholesterol was 150. I didn’t have any side effects and highly recommend.

My doctor was concerned about my rising cholesterol numbers, which did not seem to be helped by diet or exercise. So he prescribed Lipitor. I have been taking it for about a year, maybe a little more. I take a lot of other medications, but I did not notice any problems or side effects. I can say that the Lipitor did help lower my numbers from about 225 to under 200, so it is working for me. I'm checked every six months for any effects on my liver, etc. and my blood work is normal. So it works fine. I wish I didn't have to take it, but as long as it does what it is supposed to, I can't complain.

My grandfather, who was in perfect health otherwise, died due to Lipitor side effects. They were very hard to catch and diagnose early on as other medical reasons were investigated first. I would never take Lipitor, especially because the company was very shady about the side effects initially. There are so many other options, save a life and take them.

My doctor, through testing, found out that my cholesterol was too high. We tried diet to bring it down and it did not work. I was exercising and this also did not work. She finally suggested this medication. I was very reluctant but she persuaded me and wrote a prescription.

My doctor told be that less than one percent of people taking this drug would react badly to it. I felt this was still a lot but she convinced me that it would be great for me. Guess what. I am one of the less than one percent. The the fourth day I was have trouble making decisions and I am a very logical person. When I could not even make up my mind at a restaurant I knew something was terribly wrong. The only difference in my life was the addition of the medication. I stopped that evening and by the next evening I was my normal, quick thinking, self.

This medication may be good for a lot of people but it was ot good for me.

This is a great pill. I have always struggled with blood pressure, this has helped immensely. Minimal side effects.
