I was prescribed Lunesta to help treat insomnia that developed following a traumatic experience. While Lunesta certainly does increase the total amount of sleep a person obtains in a night, I felt that the quality of sleep decreased while on this drug. I often had the feeling of waking up one second after I fell asleep although a whole night had passed. I had extreme difficulty recalling any dreams that I had and this may have been part of the reason why the sleep seemed to me to be of a lower quality.

I was an insomniac for almost three years from when I was 18 to 21. I thought I had finally gotten it under control at the age of 24. However, suddenly I was having trouble sleeping again. I had been on drugs such as Lunesta before, and they had worked good for the most part in the past. However, this time I had taken it for a few days with absolutely no help at all. Maybe I would get an hour or two of uninterrupted sleep if I was lucky. I do not know why it was not working for me, but my Dr. told me to give it another shot. I told him to stick it and found myself a new doctor who could really help me. He finally prescribed the stronger dosage which seemed to help better. Insomnia is the worst thing I have experienced in my life.I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I love Lunesta! My doctor prescribed it to me after he diagnosed me with sleep apnea and it has worked like a charm. This is the first sleep aid I have used and it's great. The only thing I have to complain about is the metallic taste it leaves after swallowing, but that can be solved by eating something with it.

I had used Ambian for a long time, but it finally quit working. Lunesta takes about 30 – 45 minutes to work and gives me about 6 hours sleep. I only use it once or twice a week. The biggest problem is the metallic taste that lingers usually until the next night, but I haven’t had any other side effects.

Lunesta has been the most effective sleeping medication I've tried. I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Insomnia with frequent nightmares and occasional sleepwalking about seven years ago, and have tried various other prescriptions, but none have been effective for a long period of time and would soon have to change. Nightmares are infrequent now and no sleepwalking that I'm aware of. For the first few months, I had a strange metallic aftertaste, but would subside by morning. This is the only medication that I've tried that will allow me to sleep more than six hours at a time without waking. After being on this medication for more than three years, it typically takes an hour or so to actually fall asleep, but for the first few year, it would only take about 15 minutes before falling asleep. Mornings are fairly groggy and it takes me awhile to get started, but it's better than the alternative... not sleeping at all.

Occassional morning tiredness and headaches followed the use of lunesta on some days. Did get you back into the rhythm of natural sleep.

I took Lunesta for a 2 yrs or so maybe less. It helped me at times sleep but it also had affects on me the next day such as being loopy or un active for a day or so.
