I suffered from severe pan-ulcerative colitis for several years before ultimately undergoing a 3-step sub-total collectomy & J-Pouch surgery. Before under-going the series of surgeries, my doctor had me on these cort-enemas for 2 years.

The drug wasn't able to control my UC at all--even in the rectum & anus. Nevertheless, I continued the use of the enemas because they didn't do any harm and were somewhat soothing. Part of the reason that the enemas weren't quite as effective as they should've been, was that my disease was too severe and I was therefor unable to retain the enema for an extended period of time without using the restroom.
