Betaseron was the first injectable medication I was given when diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Initially I thought the shots weren't too bad, but within about 2 cycles, I was very tired of hitting the same spot again and getting large compound hot-spots.

In addition to the hot-spots, which turned into bruises after a day or so, I also began to feel like I had the flu. At first it was just a bit of queasieness, but then the muscle soreness and joint pain set in (by about month 6). Eventually, I was feeling so poor almost all the time that I started taking the shot irregularly.

I quit taking Betaseron after about 18 months because I couldn't stand the hot bruises that hurt all over and the constant feeling of nausea and joint pain.
